Artist Statement:

I am interested in blurring the boundaries between opposites in both the formal and the metaphorical aspects of my work.  I am fascinated by the idea that any frozen moment in time contains both history and potential- an interweaving of possibility and experience.

In the formal qualities of my work, a depiction of snow at once becomes the depiction of a painterly brush stroke or a blob of paint, illusions of space are both actual and pictorial, lines that compose figural elements are simultaneously shifting and stagnant while foreground and background become, at times, interchangeable.  Here, diverging concepts of lost and found merge into one simultaneous experience:  Remembering and forgetting, fleeing and seeking, or beginning and ending are reconciled as varying perspectives on one given circumstance.
